Police identify victim in ‘South’ accident

THE police have identified the man who was struck down while riding a bicycle along the Aubrey Barker Road in South Ruimveldt Park on Thursday evening.

His name has been given as Floyd Howes, of A-Z Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, and according to reports, he was riding along the roadway at around 18:45hrs when he was struck down by a motorcyclist of Buttercup Place, in the said South Rumveldt Park.

The motorcyclist and his pillion rider, as well as Howes were picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) to seek medical attention.

But while the motorcyclist and pillion rider were treated and sent away, Howes died while receiving treatment.
Reports are that the motorcyclist was heading along Aubrey Barker Road, when, in the vicinity of Gaulding Place, a white Toyota Premio motorcar which was proceeding east along the northern side of Aubrey Barker Road, swerved to avoid a pothole and collided with the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist in turn lost control of his machine and ran into Howes.
Howes’ body is at the GPHC mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
