Narine cops FACC 25-mile road race in Berbice

BALRAM Narine was once again the winner of a Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) organised-race in Berbice, this time copping top honours on Sunday in the Upper Corentyne.

Racing in a 25-mile road event for cyclists of the club, 20 riders pedalled off at 10:00hrs from in front of the Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry (GBTI) building then proceeded to the No. 51 Police Station and returned to finish at the place of origin.

Narine finished the race in 59 minutes without a competitor in sight. Coming in second was Ralph Sewnarine with Donovan Fraser, Syborne Fernandes and Jeremiah Joseph rounding out the top five.

Joseph was the winner in the U-16 and Schoolboys category with Mario Washington, Marlon Budram, Nicholas Sewnarine and Rodwell Fraser the top five finishers.

The U-14 and Schoolboys’ category was won by Nicholas Emanuel ahead of Aron Rajnarine, Shazim Jacub and Ricky Motiram.

Narine rode away with all eight of the sprint point prizes.

Among the sponsors were the Guyana Fire Service, GBTI, Vishal and Sons Sawmill and North West Trading.
