Mikhail Punch, 25, of Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, on Saturday, succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident on Friday morning.

At the time of the accident, Punch was the driver of motorcar PWW676 when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a lamp pole at Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown. He, along with Isaiah Corlette, 25, and a female occupant were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) but Corlette was pronounced dead on arrival.

The three had, earlier on Thursday evening, visited the Guinness Bar at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara and while on their way home, the crash occurred.

Motorcar PWW676 was proceeding west along the southern side of the road when the driver lost control and collided with a utility pole which caused the car to topple and the occupants to be flung outside.

Reports indicate that the female, a resident of Leopold Street, Georgetown, remains a patient in the Intensive Care Unit at the GPHC.
