REAGAN GARRETT, 30, a cane harvester of Lot 1 A, Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice (WCB) died on Thursday after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a concrete bridge on the Number Six Public Road.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 15:00 hrs. Police, in a release, said enquiries disclosed that the motorcyclist was proceeding west along the southern side of the road and was in the process of negotiating a turn when he lost control and collided with a concrete bridge on the southern side of the road.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The release noted that Garrett was not wearing a safety helmet and had reportedly left the Cotton Tree Play ground, where he was imbibing, to purchase ice when the accident occurred.
The body is at the Fort Wellington Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
