Contractor, computer technician robbed in separate incidents

TWO bandits reportedly robbed a D’Urban Street, Georgetown resident identified as Olsen Koala, 36, of his cash, jewellery and cellphone on Saturday night.

At the time of the robbery, he was walking on D’Urban Street, on his way to visit a friend.

Reports indicate that as he was walking, he noticed the two men riding on a motorcycle. They subsequently rode up in front of him and the pillion rider dismounted and held him at gunpoint. He was then robbed him of his cellphone, a gold chain and cash, to the total value of $80,000.

The bandit then discharged a round in the air before joining his accomplice on the motorcycle and making good his escape. Police are investigating the incident.

Also on Saturday, another gunman attacked and robbed a computer technician and a woman who were conversing at D’Andrade Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown.

The victims were identified as Michael Francois-Johnson, 34, and Dasha Cummings, 36, of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara (WCD). They were robbed at around 22:00hrs.

Reports indicate that the duo were standing on the northern side of D’Andrade Street when the lone gunman approached them from behind and held them at gunpoint.

The man who was unmasked, demanded that they hand over their valuables and being fearful for their lives, both Johnson and Cummings complied.

They reportedly handed over to the robber one Samsung phone valued at $60,000; one gold band valued at $100,000; two gold chains valued at $210,000; one pair of gold rings valued at $6,000; and $80,000 in cash.
