THIRTY-nine troops, including two members of the Barbados Defence Force recently graduated from the Guyana Defence Force Platoon Sergeant Course 2018-02.

Inspector General, Col. Nazrul Hussain charged the graduates to be practical and professional in their application of the knowledge gained and skills developed during the course, GDF said in a release. He noted that as platoon sergeants, they are now trained as leaders and must demonstrate that their training has not been in vain.
He encouraged them to continue to seek advanced training and skill development so that they can continue to positively impact the development of their units. Col. Hussain also congratulated the graduates and lauded the achievements of those troops who won prizes for excellence. Sergeant Dewayne Stephens was adjudged Best Graduating Student as well as Best Military Knowledge.
Other awardees include: Aykeem Horne; Kevor Williams and Travis Poole. The graduates of this course are now equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to train and administer an infantry platoon in peacetime or combat, GDF said.
