Guyana’s 15s Rugby team in Colombia for the Americas Rugby Challenge

THE country’s 15s rugby team will once again be in action at the Americas Rugby Challenge today, when they come up against Paraguay.
The tournament, which is being played in Colombia, saw Guyana go down 71-7 against the host nation’s side on the event’s opening day, while Paraguay got the better of Mexico 45-36.

Looking into today’s game, Ryan Gonsalves, Guyana’s team captain, had told Chronicle Sport that Paraguay’s style of play is similar to that of Colombia, and that his troops are looking to correct the mistakes made in their first game, to come out with the ‘W’ today.

Apart from Gonsalves, the ‘Green Machine’ squad also features Jason Tyrell, Allain Crawford, Rondel McArthur, Kevon David, Grantley Williams, Richardson Staglon, Jamal Angust, Cloyd Prowell, Lancelot Adonis, Avery Corbin, Claudius Butts and Godfrey Broomes.

Also making the squad selected by the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) are David Garnett, Joseph Rahaman, Cyon Kitt, Ahmad Isaacs, Vallon Adams, Walter George, Sean Phillips, James Osborne, Daniel DeAbrue, Toby David, Selwin Henry and O’Neil Charles.
