MARICS and Company Limited on Friday afternoon launched the Isuzu brand of vehicles in Guyana at the Guyana Marriott Hotel Lobby/Bar which saw a large turn-out with much fanfare and glitz.
In August 2018, Marics pursued a new business venture in becoming the dealer for ISUZU in Guyana.

Isuzu is the world’s leading commercial diesel engine manufacturer with over 100 years of experience in diesel engines. Yesterday, August 17, 2018, MARICS introduced the ISUZU D-Max engineering innovation with a fresh new design. The D-MAX is still the only pickup in the market which is produced by a commercial vehicle manufacturer.
The new ISUZU mu-X was also launched and was developed to stand out and stand apart in every aspect. Designed with extra attitude, expressing a true interpretation of an SUV, combined with a luxurious versatile cabin and excellent all-terrain performance.
President, Isuzu Motors International Operations Panama, Shinichiro Otatsume said Isuzu is one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in the world and they supply their products to about 140 countries around the world. The dealership at the launch, introduced two models of Isuzu vehicles to the Guyanese market.
Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Office for Investment, (GO-INVEST) Owen Verwey said the launching is a very good indicator for Guyana to see international companies and international brands choosing to partner and or establish viable operations here.
He said, “It speaks to the business confidence, and customer confidence, of its sustainability, and while I do not like to speak about the emergence of oil and gas in Guyana, I am sure this was just about one of the variables influencing this decision by the investors.”

He added that as Guyana expects to see more and more cars on the roads in the coming years, it is expected that with newer cars, these would be safer, more reliable, cleaner, greener and more energy efficient.
Verwey stated that these newer vehicles will also help to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the global fight against climate change.
The CEO of GO-INVEST pointed out that the ISUZU name is not new to Guyana, however this launch makes for an easier opportunity for persons, companies, organisations and government to own and benefit from the brand’s advantages.
