The case of one friend beating the other

A TWENTY-nine-year-old hospital attendant was on Thursday released on $300,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly beating his friend with a piece of wood.
Andy Fernandes was not required to plea to the indictable charge which read that on July 18 at New Market Street, Georgetown he wounded Terry Clement with intent to commit murder.

Fernandes’ attorney, Everton Lammy-Singh, told the court that Clement was chasing his client with a cutlass and Fernandes picked up a piece of wood to defend himself.
Lammy-Singh explained that his client had made several reports to the Alberttown Police Station against Clement.

However, Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that Clement was unarmed when he was attacked by Fernandes.

The matter was adjourned until July 26, 2018.
