…child was only six at time of incident

ON Monday, 20-year-old Delon Clementson pleaded guilty to raping a child under age 16 before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in the Sexual Offences Court of the Demerara High Court.

According to the state, between August 1 and August 31, 2013 in the county of Demerara, Clementson engaged in sexual penetration of a female child under 16 years of age.

The child was only six years of age at the time of the incident.

Clementson was represented by Adrian Thompson, while the state prosecutors were Orinthia Schmidt and Lisa Cave.

Sentencing for the accused was deferred to August 13, 2018, to facilitate a probation report after which Clementson will be sentenced.

However, the accused who was on bail was taken into custody until his sentencing.
