The parents of a 10-year-old girl of Affiance , Essequibo Coast are praying for the best after the student was struck down by a car on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports are that the girl, who has been identified as Bibi Saudia Baksh, was returning home after attending classes at the Al Madena Academy. She  disembarked  the school bus around 1630hrs. Reports are that the child stepped into the path of a car and she was flung onto the roadway.

Medical officials reported that she sustained severe head injuries.  Arrangements were later made for her to be air-dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation via Hampton Court.

Police later detained the female driver of the car involved in the incident.
