DIAMOND United continued their fine showing and their hard work is showing encouraging dividends when they thumped Swan Football Club 3-0 in the main fixture Saturday when play in the Juicy Juice- sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-13 League continued with day three play at the Timehri Red ground
Also taking full points on the day were Timehri Panthers Sports Club who maintained their hold at the top of the points table following another solid display; they trounced Samatta Point/Kaneville FC 6-1 while new comers, Hararuni Eagles, soared to their maiden win in EBFA competition, needling Soesdyke Falcons 1-0.
Diamond United’s win saw them jumping into second place on the points table. Shaquan Braithwaite opened proceedings in the 11th minute with teammate Shakem Welcome doubling the advantage in the 17th minute.
Diamond United was gifted their third goal when Anderson Webber of Swan scored in his own goal on the stroke of half time, the 30th minute. This Diamond United team has shown great improvement and determination and has sounded a warning to all, that they are no longer the whipping boys of the EBFA.
Timehri Panthers Sports Club continued where they left off in the Under-15 League which they won earlier this year; the home team notched their third win in as many matches. Keron Williams was the main architect of the 6-1 triumph as he banged in the first helmet-trick of the league.
Williams hit the back of the nets in the 15th, 17th, 30th and 34th minute as Samatta Point/Kaneville was not able to keep the Panthers at bay. Shaquile Caleb added his name to the score sheet in the 46th minute with the final goal coming off the boot of Antwon Denny in the 59th minute.
Jeremiah Henry netted Samatta Point/Kaneville’s consolation goal in the 24th minute. ‘New kids on the block’ Hararuni Eagles, through a Cebasio Peters 50th minute goal, recorded their first win in just their third match competing in the EBFA.
Their encounter with Soesdyke Falcons, playing in their first match of the league, was close with the losers creating quite a few chances but were not able to finish as they would have liked to.
This developmental competition will continue on the weekend.
