AN unidentified man is in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was shot twice on Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Reports indicate that a resident in the area heard two loud explosions that sounded like gunshots and upon checking he saw a large crowd gathered around an unknown man lying on the street in a crouching position holding his stomach.

The resident quickly ran to Hadfield Street, summoned a taxi and with the help of others, placed the injured man into the car, which took him to hospital.

The injured man was then taken for immediate surgery, where he remains in an unconscious state. The incident was reported to the police as investigations continue.
