REGIONAL Executive Officer Region Six, Kim Stephens, last evening told the family of Beyoncé Ross to find solace in knowing that she is in a “better place.”
“Draw comfort that she is in his [God] everlasting arms, where there is no more pain and sorrow. Remember the things she stood for and thrive [sic] to continue to do so in her memory.” Stephens made the remarks at a candlelight vigil and march in memory of the triple national gold medalist from under the Rose Hall Town Arch to her home in Swamp Section Reef, Rose Hall Town, East Berbice-Corentyne.

The REO was joined by the Regional Education Officer Region Six, Volika Jaikishun; New Amsterdam Hospital CEO, Colin Bynoe; family members, students and residents of Rose Hall Town as they marched to honour the life of the 15-year-old who died last week after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Candles, cell phones, hand lanterns and other items were used to illuminate the journey. In the background music blasted from a stereo as scores came out to pay homage.
There were intermittent bursts of firecrackers along the journey, which were meant to highlight the departure of a superstar as the march culminated at the home of Ross where a prayer service and wake was held. The funeral for the young woman will be held today.
