Pedestrian killed while crossing Soesdyke Public road

A PEDESTRIAN was flung several feet into the air and landed onto the Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara public road after motorcar PHH 4810 crashed into him while he was crossing the road.

Dead is 32-year-old Lester Oselmo, a labourer of Lot 152 Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, (EBD).

A breathalyser test was reportedly conducted on the driver and no trace of alcohol was found.

Inquiries revealed that the car was being driven by a 42-year-old of Norton Street, Wortmanville Georgetown and he was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that Oselmo suddenly ran across the road.

The driver was reportedly unable to swerve in time to avoid a collision and instead the pedestrian was struck down.

He was picked up in an unconscious state by the driver and placed into his vehicle and rushed to the East Bank Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are investigating the fatal crash.
