Gang of five rob Eccles businessman

FIVE bandits robbed a 56-year-old businessman and his family in their ‘AA’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The men, three of whom were armed with handguns, entered the man’s house through an ungrilled window by the bathroom.

Reports indicate that when the businessman woke up to use the washroom, he was confronted by the perpetrators who had just entered the house. The bandits held onto him and later awoke his 58- year-old wife, a businesswoman.
The robbers then kicked open a room where two pensioners were sleeping, dragged them out their beds and along with the couple, they tied their hands and feet with tape and clothing.

The gang then demanded cash and valuables and started to ransack the entire house, eventually escaping with cash, cellphones, credit cards, jewellery and other valuables.
The businessman after freeing himself and the others contacted the police who subsequently visited the scene. A search was launched but no one was found. Investigations are continuing.
