INDIA’S Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Dr Satya Pal Singh, Tuesday commenced a three-day visit to Guyana as part of the special “Outreach Programme” initiated by the Government of India to meet with leaders and the Indian diaspora.
A press statement by the Indian High Commission noted that Dr. Singh, who also has responsibility for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, will be accompanied by his wife Alka Singh.
During his visit, Minister Singh is scheduled to meet with President David Granger; Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo; Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan; Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman; Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson; and Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.
The High Commission further noted that Dr Singh will also meet with Guyana’s Opposition Leader and former President, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo.
“During the meetings, various issues of interest regarding bilateral and multilateral will be discussed. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora, including Indian expatriates in Guyana at a reception hosted in honour of the visiting minister,” the High Commission stated.
