Alberttown man gets three years ganja trafficking

A FATHER of six was yesterday sentenced to three years in prison for possession of narcotics.

It was alleged that on May 4, 2018 at Cummings Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, Gordon Nedd had in his possession 27 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking
The 35-year-old man pleaded guilty to the charge read to him in court.

According to the police facts, on the day in question police ranks were performing duty when they stopped motor vehicle PWW 7244 and conducted a search. The defendant was found with the narcotics in his crutch and he was arrested and taken to the Alberttown Police Station. He admitted that the drugs belonged to him.

Before sentence was passed the man told the court he did not want to waste the court’s time. He said he was sorry for his action and since he did not have any previous convictions he asked the magistrate to be sympathetic with him.

After listening to his plea, Magistrate Judy Latchman sentenced him to three years in prison along with a $30,000 fine.
