A SECURITY guard attached to Federal Management Systems was killed after the car in which he was travelling crashed into a trench on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Sunday morning at 06:20 hrs.

Dead is Garfield McPherson, 47, of Lot 27 Norton Street, Georgetown.
Other occupants in the car were identified as Diana Mc Garrell, 35, of Lot 160 Bachelors Adventure, East Coast Demerara and the driver Dellon Dublin, 28, of lot 7A Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

Enquiries disclosed that the motor car PRR 6380 owned by Federal Management Systems was proceeding north along the western side of the Land of Canaan Public Road, when it is alleged by the driver that a blue vehicle which was proceeding in the opposite direction swerved from a cow and ended up in his path.

He moved farther west, lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a nearby trench.
As a result of the impact, they all received injuries and were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where McPherson, who was seated in the left rear seat, was pronounced dead on arrival.
The other two injured persons are in stable condition at the hospital.
