Missing fisherman’s home burglarised
Even as relatives of the missing fisherman Ramesh Sancharia travel around Suriname  to gather information on him , thieves broke into and ransacked the family’s Better Hope home on Saturday evening .
The family members who have all traveled to neighboring Suriname in recent days, told the Guyana Chronicle that they received a call sometime after midnight on Saturday from neighbours who related that their home was robbed and efforts to contact the police were unsuccessful.
One of the man’s sons , who spoke exclusively with this publication, said that since everyone was seeking answers about his father, they all travelled over to  Suriname and locked up the house and asked the neighbours to keep an eye on their home.
“We neighbour call last night and tell we how the place get rob that some boys did coming home from a party and they see some men fetching out things from we place, them call out for thief and them men escape,” the man, who is already distraught by his father’s disappearance , noted.
He said that he understands that the men had already taken a load of stuff from the house and were returning to take more when they were spotted. He said calls were made to the Vigilance Police Station but the family received no response. He further indicated that the family told Minister of Public Security ,Khemraj Ramjattan who is in Suriname , about the ordeal during a meeting on Sunday and he promised to look into the matter.
Sanchara’s son, who works in construction industry , said he recently bought  several new tools that he ordered specifically for his jobs. He also indicated his other sibling recently entered the music business and set up a music set with  new amplifiers, speakers and components intended for hires at weddings and other events. In addition he disclosed that they if the men made it to the upper flat of their home, more than likely they would have looted jewellery and other valuable items that are kept there.
“ Right now we are stressed out because we come here to deal with one thing and then is double worries the place get rob. We get some people gone to check it out but they won’t know what we lost,”he said.
Ramesh Sanchara was among the 20 fishermen who were brutally attacked by pirates in Suriname waters last weekend.  According to the relatives, they believe his body is among the decomposed  bodies which have been recovered but given the state of decomposition and mutilation of the body, they were advised to  submit samples for a DNA test to confirm the man’s identity.
