A FIFTY-one-year-old unemployed man of Grant Tree Friends, on the upper Pomeroon River is currently battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after being mercilessly beaten by persons unknown.

Yul Gameel last Sunday went to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital at Charity and told doctors on duty that he was badly beaten and in need of urgent medical attention.

He was subsequently admitted as a patient, then rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital and later transferred to the GPHC.

Reports are that while the police have not yet arrested anyone in relation to the incident, Gameel has been suffering from a mental illness for the past five years due to head injuries he sustained during an accident.
He was reportedly last seen drinking with a friend named “Natty”.
