AUBREY Hodge, a 21-year-old man was taken before the court on Tuesday on two charges – one for abusive language and the other for assault.
It was alleged that on April 12 on Brickdam, Hodge assaulted and used abusive language to police constable Shawn Persaud.
He pleaded guilty to the charges.
According to the police facts, city constable Persaud was on patrol duty on Brickdam when he observed the defendant in a confrontation with someone. Hodge was using colourful expletives and even as the cop admonished him he did not stop.
When the constable went to arrest him he pushed the lawman’s hands away and continued his tirade.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan before whom Hodge appeared, ordered that he perform six weeks of community service or serve three months in prison.
