WITH Berbice emerging the winners of the three-day format of the 2018 GCB/Hand In Hand Inter-County tournament, yesterday saw the start of the one-day format in which Berbice and the Select Under-17 were engaged in a reduced 22 overs match over at the Tuschen ground.
Select Under-17 batted first and were all out for 61 in 18.4 overs. Sachin Singh and Gevon Shultz were the only two batsmen to reach double figures, scoring 28 and 10, respectively.
Keith Simpson and Kelvin Umroa each collected 3 wickets for 14 and 1,respectively. Kevlon Anderson also contributed with 2 wickets.
Berbice in reply made 67 for 1 in 10.2 overs. Opening batsmen Alex Algoo and Junior Sinclair made 29 and 28 (not out). Javid Karim was not out on 6. Sylvian Williams was the lone wicket taker.
Round two matches will take place tomorrow from 9:00 hrs when Demerara take on Berbice at Lusignan and the Select Under-17 face Essequibo at Everest.
