LUCK was definitely not on the side of Leonard Grant, 30, of Westbury, Essequibo Coast, when he made his final appearance at the Charity Magistrates’ Court in relation to an assault charge on Monday.

Following the testimonies of several persons in the trial, Grant was found guilty by Magistrate Esther Sam of assaulting his child’s mother Shenalla Marks during a heated argument last year.

Marks had several injuries inflicted about her body during a beating at the hands of Grant, with whom she shared a common-law relationship at the time.

Grant was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, and on hearing the verdict, he broke down in tears and even asked for forgiveness.
