–during recent walkabout in Region Two
MINISTER of Business Dominic Gaskin on Thursday paid a visit to Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam, where he seized the opportunity to interact with the business community.
The visit, which was facilitated by the Essequibo Chamber of Commerce (ECC), commenced at Supenaam early in the morning where speedboat operators as well as residents took the opportunity to interact with the minister.

Welcoming him at the Supenaam Stelling were ECC President, Mr. Deleep Singh; Regional Executive Officer, Mr Rupert Hopkinson and members of the business community.
The minister had a very interactive session with the business community at Anna Regina, where the chamber president formally welcomed him to the fabled Cinderella County, and used the opportunity to solicit his help in getting the region improved telecommunication services, as well as a reliable supply of electricity.
Singh told the minister that while Essequibians are talented and have many business ideas, they need technical help from the Ministry of Business.
Businessmen at the meeting raised with the minister key issues affecting them,such as poor access dams and roads leading to their businesses, and the poor ferry service. They also asked that the government consider rehabilitating the Mainstay airstrip.
After the meeting, the minister and his team were taken on a tour of the Morning Glory cereal factory at Anna Regina, where they saw technicians at work on the manufacture of rice cereals.

Fully dressed for the occasion, in gown, hairnet, mask and shoe-cover, the minister inspected the state-of-the-art packaging facility, and was filled in on the necessary information about the process and operation by Deputy Director of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) Mr Deonarine Jagdeo.
The team then journeyed to Samaroo Investment’s aquaculture farm at Lima Sands, where they were taken on a tour of the facility.
The minister’s visit has set the tone for the upcoming Agro Trade Fair, which is slated for April 20 and 21.
