THE Beterverwagting/Triumph ground will be illuminated shortly, following the handing-over of several floodlights recently under the National Sport Commission’s ‘Light it Up’ campaign.

Director of Sport at the National Sport Commission, Christopher Jones yesterday handed over a quantity of lights to the 8th of May Foundation.

He noted that this is the first in a series of donations of lights that will enhance community grounds, saying, “BV will be the very first for the Light it Up campaign.”

He continued, “The BV residents and councillors made contact with me in 2017 and I did pledge my commitment in terms of ground enhancement and the added fixture of lights.”

“Unfortunately,” Director Jones continued, “The ground enhancement project wasn’t done in 2017 but we are fulfilling the promise as it relates to the Light it Up campaign.”

One of the representatives of the 8th of May Foundation, a village organisation that assists in community work, commended Jones for the donation.

“On behalf of the 8th of May Foundation, we would like to thank the director of sport for his generous donations and I’m sure we will put it to good use for the celebration of the activities and a revitalisation of sports in BV/Triumph.”

The lights will be installed for use shortly.
