FOUR days after a 54-year-old security guard was brutally murdered and some $1.5 million was stolen from the store he was protecting, two teens held have confessed to planning the crime but they have denied any involvement in it.

Munisperen Monien, the security guard at Sukhram’s General Store, popularly known as “Fat Lady Store” was found with his throat slit last Saturday.

The nine suspects held were taken back to the crime scene on Wednesday.

Monien’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit at a back entrance to the store.

From all indications, he had a struggle with his attackers, since he was also discovered with several broken limbs and a severe cut to the head.

Checks revealed that the assailant(s) gained entry to the heavily-secured premises by way of a hole in the back fence of the premises and made their way into the store. There was no sign of forced entry and the padlocks which were supposed to secure the doors were allegedly left unlocked, pointing to an inside job.

The manager reportedly informed police that some $1.5 million which was hidden in the store was missing. Seven persons were detained, including the manager and other members of staff. On Monday, two more persons were detained.

Monien, who is unmarried and has no children, has left to mourn two sisters, a brother and other relatives.
