RETRIEVE Raiders and Amelia’s Ward Jets revived their chances of making it to the final four of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) `March Madness’ Open basketball championship on Wednesday night with victories after losing their opening games of the tournament.
Raiders first regained some ground with victory over Bankers Trust Falcons whom they defeated 72-60 after leading 32-20 at half-time.
The Raiders were able to come away with the win as Dauwin Lovell top-scored with 19 points, Sheldron Joel and Sean Muss each had 13 and Kareem Robertson added 12.
Lawrence DaCosta had a game-high 30 points for Falcons with Akeel Primo 14 and Joel Fraser eight being the next best scorers for the Falcons.
The second game between Amelia’s Ward Jets and Block 22 Flames ended with the Jets scoring a 65-57 win.
Donnel Benjamin had 20 points, Akin Wilson 14 and Joel Webster 10 for the Jets while for Flames, Rondel Fraser and Shemar Henry each netted 13 points.
Tonight another double-header is on at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
In the first game Victory Valley Royals will face Bankers Trust Falcons at 18:30hrs and at 20:30hrs Half Mile Bulls and Block 22 Flames clash in the final preliminary game of the championship. (Joe Chapman)
