AT the highly-anticipated 13th edition of the Diamond Mineral Water (DMW), PSL Trojan’s Romello Crawford will have his hands full as he seeks to defend his title which was won at last year’s edition at the inner circuit of the National Park.
Come Saturday (March 10), the 19-year-old Berbician, who is in red-hot form, will be looking to continue his winning streak. However, the likes of Team Evolution’s Paul DeNobrega, Team Coco’s Jamual John and Crawford’s very own teammate Curtis ‘Chappy’ Dey will also be gunning for a return to the top of the podium after they all narrowly missed out at various meets over the past two months.
At last year’s DMW meet, Crawford won the Schoolboys Invitational feature 35-lap in a blistering time of one hour 16 minutes 24 seconds ahead of Geron Williams and Stephano Husbands.
Dey won the Juveniles 10-lap race in 2017, but this year will see a new winner. Defending the Mountain Bikes title will be Colwyn Archer while Junior Niles will be eager to retain his Veterans Under-50 title.
Kennard Lovell will also be back in action looking to defend his Veterans Over-50 trophy.
The starting-time for the DMW-sponsored cycling meet is 09:00hrs at the inner circuit of the National Park and it will be organised by National cycling coach Hassan Mohamed. (Michelangelo Jacobus)
