THE Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association (ECPFA)- sponsored under-15 football tournament continued on Saturday at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground.
In the lone fixture, Charity United F.C edged past host Henrietta F.C 1-0 during the 70 minute encounter.
The first half went scoreless as both teams tussled without success. It was Charity though who created more opportunities and was clearly the better team.
Smart passing and superior athleticism saw Charity gaining four corners and five direct kicks to goal. In comparison Henrietta F.C struggled to maintain possession of the ball as they found themselves disunited.
When play resumed in the second half, Charity F.C continued their clever passes and was rewarded in the 68th minute when Ravindra Welcome pierced the net to register the lone goal of the game.
The competition will continue with more matches slated for various grounds along the Essequibo Coast as the ECPFA seeks to promote the game at all levels.
Meanwhile, in the senior competition at the same venue, Charity Extreme got a ‘walk-over’ from Good Hope United who failed to turn up when the whistle was blown. Henrietta United has an unassailable lead in the competition after completing their round of matches unbeaten.
