THE fourth edition of the Guyana Fitness Challenge, sponsored by Kares Engineering will feature five gruelling stages when the action gets going on March 11, at the National park.
The event, launched on Thursday evening at the Giftland Mall’s strip was attended by several athletes and sponsors, with the former of putting on a demonstration following the launch.
Public Relations Officer, Jordana Ramsay, contended that, “we have our top athletes returning, the big names like Dillon, Semonica, Anis and Delice will all be returning to our crossfit playground. We also have a team from Suriname coming to challenge our athletes, so we are encouraging all Guyanese to come out to support our local champions.”
“Another notable mention, this is the first year that we have had so many women willingly sign up for the fitness challenge. It just goes to show that our efforts have been paying off. Women are joining the world of crossfit and fitness in general and are feeling empowered. We love that,” she said.

“We excited to introduce our Mascot, Harpo the eagle is a brand a new feature and mascot of the Guyana Fitness Games designed by Bernard Ramsay as the link between athletes and spectators to keep things light and funny throughout the various events all day long,” the PRO stated.
Also present was Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, who showed his support for the event by signing up for the annual celebrity challenge.
“It is games like this which help to fight those NCD’s [Non –communicable diseases] and we are always interested in promoting fitness,” Jones added.
Included among the other sponsors are Lucozade, Icool Water, Mix 90.1FM, Scotiabank, Degree, Lipton, Courts, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Baganara Island Resort, Windjammer Restaurant, Giftland Foodmaxx, Trophy Stall and Two Pears Health Mart.
