Armed men rob Chinese general store of cash

A 23-year-old national of China man was on Saturday afternoon robbed by two armed men who invaded his Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara general store.

Enquires disclosed that Xu Kai, about 14:00hrs on the day in question, was robbed of $30,000 by two identifiable men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
According to reports, Xu was behind the counter of his store when the two suspects entered. One of the men pulled out a handgun from his pants waist and pointed it at the businessman.

The armed man then pushed his hands over the counter and took out the cash which was in a box. The two men made good their escape on a bicycle in a northern direction.
The matter was reported to the police and CCTV footage from the business was reviewed. A police investigation into the matter is in progress.
