GCB/Dave West Indian Imports U-15 tournament

Berbice eye consecutive titles

UNSTOPPABLE throughout the preliminary round, Berbice would be aiming for a second consecutive title when the Leslie Solomon-coached side square off against an equally formidable Demerara in the final of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Dave West Indian Imports Inter-county Under-15 tournament today at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda.

So far, it has been a collective performance from the defending champions as every member of the squad has contributed to the team’s success in one way or another.
To their advantage, the Ancient County side played unbeaten in the tournament, including whipping Demerara handsomely in the second round.
However, Solomon informed Chronicle Sport yesterday that his players remain confident ahead of today’s clash.

“We had a break between the final round and tomorrow’s (today) final, but what I can say, is that the boys are all confident … they are eager to come out victorious and to win the title for the second time,” Solomon said.
Demerara, on the other hand, would be desperate for revenge after their big loss to the Berbicians in the preliminary round.

After that one bad day, Demerara have bounced back strongly to make it to the final which signalled that they have upped their game which clearly indicates that they will definitely give Berbice a tough fight.

Coach Latchman Yadram pointed out that his players are ready for today’s clash, adding that once they do the basics right, they could come out as champions.
Play is expected to commence at 09:30hrs.

The Demerara squad reads: Mavindra Dindyal, Nicholas Rajpat, Zachary Jodha, Rivaldo Phillips, Rommel Datterdeen, Chandrapaul Rajpat, Shemar Yearwood, Krishna Singh, Inderjeet Nanan, Alex Alli, Thaddeus Lovell, Shafeek Khan, Darius Andrews and Vishal Persaud.

The Berbice squad reads: Vettorie Lathman, Rampertab Ramnauth, Mahendra Gopilall, Tomani Caeser, Zeynol Ramsammy, Antoine Alexander, Jonathon Rampersaud, Darius Joseph, Jeremy Sandia, Isia Thorne, Latchman Dhanna, Matthew Pottaya, Pavanand Ganesh and Boodram Lakeraj.
