704 security guards attacked at ‘Sun Rise fete’

THE police are seeking two men who attacked security guards attached to the 704 Sports Bar, resulting in one of the security men firing a gunshot into the air causing the crowd to disperse at 05:45hrs Friday morning.

The 704 employees were providing security at the “Sun Rise fete” held on the eastern side of the parking lot on Lamaha and Albert Streets, Georgetown.

Enquiries disclosed that a fight was observed several feet away from the bar and the security men approached the scene in an attempt to pacify the situation, when one of the persons fighting, who is known as “Whistle,” dealt one of the guards a lash to his face with a beer bottle.

The 33-year-old security guard fell onto the ground and three other males, who were in the company of “Whistle”, attacked him with broken bottles. One of the security guards then discharged a round into the air that caused the crowd to disperse.

Fellow security colleagues responded and were also injured in the melee. As “Whistle” and his accomplices were leaving, they also attacked another guard. The injured security guard was taken for medical attention. The police responded and the security guard’s firearm was lodged at the Brickdam Police Station as an investigation continues.
