A 12-MEMBER jury was on Monday morning empanelled before Justice Navendra Singh in the Georgetown High Court for the 2014 alleged murder of 75-year-old Joyce Lewist.

On trial is Kevon Trevlon Sherwin Alfred who is being represented by defence counsel Stanley Moore.

The state is being led by Abigail Gibbs, Tiffini Lyken and Narissa Leander. Alfred stands indicted for the alleged March 25-26, 2014 murder of Joyce Lewis during the course or furtherance of a robbery in the county of Demerara.

The accused has pleaded not guilty to the offence. The state is expected to call 13 witnesses to testify when the matter starts on Wednesday at 09:00hrs in Court 3. It is alleged that the home of septuagenarian Joyce Lewis of Lot 3630 Christaini Street, North Ruimveldt was broken into and she was strangled during the invasion.
