Teen schoolboy charged with attempted murder

A TEEN student of the Mercy Wing Vacation and Day Care School, located in South Sophia, was on Friday charged with the attempted murder of his schoolmate.

Joel Moore, 17, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plead to the indictable offence which alleged that on January 22 at South Sophia, Georgetown, he wounded the 15-year-old with intent to commit murder.
Moore was remanded to prison until February 2.

According to a report, on the day in question at around 12:30h, the two boys got into a fight after Moore accused the 15-year-old of stealing his phone.
Moore reportedly became so incensed that he pulled out a knife and stabbed the other lad in the abdomen.

The youngster was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his teacher, and is currently in a critical condition.
