A 43-YEAR-OLD Corentyne painter was charged with sacrilege when he appeared before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
It was the first appearance of Romel Quntin of Lot 80 Queenstown, Corriverton Berbice.
The court heard that Quintin while working at the Presbyterian Church located at No. 35 village, allegedly stole a Sony amplifier, an equaliser and a microphone totalling $32,000, property of the church. He denied the charge.
The incident reportedly took place between January 13 and 14, 2018. He was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 and will return to court on February 1, 2018.
