A 34-year-old taxi driver was on Friday charged for assaulting two sex workers and was released on $400,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Thurston Semple of Tucville Terrace, Georgetown, is charged for assaulting the first woman on December 1, 2017 at Georgetown and the second woman between January 3, 2018 and January 4. Semple denied the charges and was represented by attorney, Bernard DaSilva.
Semple was released on $200,000 on each charge and the matter was adjourned until February 5.

According to reports, Semple while working his hire car around Georgetown would pick up sex workers and agree to pay them $10,000 to perform sexual favours. The man allegedly would take the victims into a house and tie them up before sexually assaulting them. Then he would leave them without paying and still tied up.
