Market vendor charged for stealing car parts

A Stabroek Market vendor was on Monday charged and released on $70,000 bail by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan for receiving over $1.4M worth in stolen items.

Kelson Adams of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara is charged with receiving three motor car batteries valued $190,000; a generator valued $400,000 along with three audio amplifiers worth $900,000, knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained property of Leonard Young.

Adams who was unrepresented, denied the charge which stated that he committed the felony between December 6 and 14, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown..

Police Prosecutor Arwin Moore who made no objection to bail informed the court that all the stolen items were recovered at the defendant’s home.
The matter was adjourned until January 3, 2018.
