Octogenarian killed in ATV crash

AN octogenarian succumbed to injuries after the All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) CG 8510, he was travelling on toppled on Tuesday at Paramakatoi, Region Eight.
Dead is Robert Aaron, 80. According to reports, he was travelling to Monkey Mountain at the time of the accident.

The ATV is owned by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs and at the time it was being driven by a 21-year-old of Paramakatoi Village.
Enquiries disclosed that the ATV was proceeding south along the Paramakatoi trail, descending a hill, when it is alleged by the driver that the four-wheeler developed mechanical problems which caused him to lose control.

The ATV then turned-turtle and the driver along with the pillion rider, Robert Aaron, was thrown onto the trail surface where Aaron received injuries about the body.
Aaron was then picked up by the driver and other public-spirited citizens and taken to the Paramakatoi Health Centre where he was seen and examined by the medic and was subsequently pronounced dead.

The driver is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
