Motorcyclist charged for sexagenarian’s death

FOUR months after 61-year-old Francis Persaud was struck down and killed on the Craig Public Road, East Bank Demerara, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was charged for causing his death.
Jason Dorsett of Kitty, a Route 40 minibus conductor, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of the offence alleged that on July 30, at Craig Public Road, he rode motorcycle CH 532 in a dangerous manner which resulted in the death of the female sexagenarian.
Police Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers told the court that the defendant was no stranger to the court and has other pending traffic-related charges.
The magistrate released Dorsett on $500,000 bail and adjourned the matter until November 10.
