The Rose Hall Town Pepsi ‘A’ Under-19 team on Saturday last played arch rivals Young Warriors of Cumberland and easily defeated them by 64 runs at the Hampshire Cricket Ground. The 40-overs per side match was witnessed by a fair-sized crowd.
Batting first after winning the toss, Rose Hall Town Pepsi ‘A’ was given a solid opening stand by National Under-19 player Kevin Sinclair and National Under-17 player Junior Sinclair. The pair added 115 for the first wicket in 17 overs, with Kevin Sinclair playing the attacking role.
Junior Sinclair was the first batsman to be dismissed for 25, stumped off left arm spinner, Trevon Stanislaus. Kevin Sinclair was joined by Chanderpaul Govindan and together they added 30 for the 2nd wicket, before Sinclair was bowled for a well-played 90.
Ramdehol, then dismissed Keith Simpson (14) and Joel Pike (00) to leave Rose Hall Town Pepsi at 170 for 4, but Govindan batted brilliantly along with Kevlon Anderson (15) and Jonathan Rampersaud (16) to take their team to an imposing 268-8 off 40 overs.
Govindan ended with 65 off 68 balls.
Bowling for Young Warriors, Rovendan Nippaih took 2 -12, Ramdehol took 3 wickets for 45 and Trevon Stanislaus supported with 1-60.
Young Warriors suffered an early set back when Jeran France was bowled off the inside edge by pacer, Joshua Wilson for 01 in the second over.
The left-handed Stanislaus joined Ramdehol and together they added 60 for the 2nd wicket off 12 overs, before off-spinner Kevin Sinclair had Ramdehol LBW for 24.
National Junior Cricketer, Garfield Benjamin, was then caught at the wicket of Sinclair for a second ball duck, but Stanislaus, batted through the innings to remain unbeaten on 57 from 103 balls.
Stanislaus received support from national players, Carlton Gilgeous (36) and Leon Swammy (16) as the Rose Hall Town Pepsi spinners kept the visitors on a tight rein.
Kevin Sinclair took 2 for 24, Keith Simpson bagged 4-26 with Joshua Wilson and Kevlon Anderson each taking one wicket each.
