Fire gutted a concrete building at Lot 12 La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara (WCD) Public Road on Thursday, leaving a family of four homeless.

Police said the fire occurred about 06:15 hours and it appeared to be electrical in origin. It has left Hazar Udeh, his wife Nazeema Hamid and their children Harfiena, seven, and Scarfiena, two, homeless.

Two fire tenders arrived at 06: 30 hrs and extinguished the flames, but not before the Lot 12 house was reduced to ashes. The adjacent building was also scorched, but no one was seriously injured.
