A 26-YEAR-OLD woman was on Tuesday remanded to prison for attempting to smuggle almost 15 pounds of cocaine inside hammocks to the U.S.A. via DHL Shipping.

Tiffini Tricia Collison, 26 of Samaan Street, Guyhoc Park, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was remanded to prison until October 19 after denying the drug trafficking charge.

The charge read that on September 20, at Lot 50 E, 53 Alberttown, Collison trafficked 6.742 kilograms of cocaine. Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), Konyo Sandiford told the court that Collison had used her mother’s identification document to post four hammocks via DHL Shipping on September 20.

On September 21 the suspicious package was discovered by a CANU rank at the Eugene F Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara whilst being checked as outgoing cargo. The hammocks are suspected to have been saturated with cocaine and were to be delivered to an address in the United States of America via a Georgetown-based courier service.

A wanted bulletin was issued for her arrest and four days later she surrendered at CANU headquarters with her lawyer.
