A 36-YEAR-OLD taxi driver was on Wednesday released on $150,000 bail by City Magistrate Judy Latchman for allegedly sexual assaulting a seven-year-old girl.
Anansuaruddin Khan of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara is alleged to have between June 1 and June 30, 2017 at Georgetown sexually assaulted a child under 16.
Khan denied the allegation when the Administration of Justice Act was applied to the charge. Magistrate Latchman released Khan on $150,000 bail and adjourned the matter until October 5.
According to reports the defendant was hired by the victim’s mother to pick up the child from school and dropped home daily. However, it is alleged that on one occasion when the child was in the car the accused fondled her. The matter was reported to the police after the child told her mother.
