After dropping the ‘upstarts’ Panthers 36 – 26 to pick up their first weekend, the Pepsi Hornets will be looking to ‘sting’ their way past the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) this weekend, as action continue in the Bounty Farm 15s tournament in the National Park.

Today, the Panthers will play Yamaha Caribs while on Sunday, Pepsi Hornets will collide with the GDF.
Playing in the final 15s tournament on the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Calendar for 2017, the Hornets, buoyed by the return of the monstrous Kevin McKenzie who plays in Australia, brought the red-hot Panthers back to reality with the whipping.
Panthers came into the Bounty Farm 15s with back-to-back 7s titles, and had started their run in the game’s longer format with a 67 – 7 annihilation of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Falcons.
However, the presence of McKenzie, along with some of the country’s top ruggers, proved too much for the Panthers.
McKenzie finished with two tries, while National Captain Ryan Gonsalves had a try, made good of three conversations and scored a penalty. Rickford Cummings also had a try for the Hornets.
Godfrey Brooms, winger Osei McKenzie, Daniel Anderson and Jamal Angus scored a try each for the Panthers. Brooms scored three conversations.
The Yamaha Caribs will now be the focus for the young Panthers team, as they look to bounce back. The Caribs had forfeit their last game against the Falcons.
Meanwhile, the GDF team is anxious to get into action and would be even more excited to face the Hornets, especially after watching them ‘manners’ the Panthers.
Patrick King, Avery Corbin and Dwayne Schroeder – the top players for the GDF – will have a chance to empress rugby fans with their superiority and will continue their rich rivalry with the Hornets.
Game time is 16:00
