PRESIDENT David Granger has confirmed that the Ministry of the Presidency (MOTP) is investigating the comments made by Press Officer, Lloyda Garrett, during a private social media conversation which was leaked on Facebook.
The alleged racial comments created a stir on social media. Granger told members of the media on Thursday that they have examined the information which was presented and it was discussed with the staff of the press section of the MOTP.
“Like Mr Mark Archer said, it is not the policy of the Ministry of the Presidency, and it is not my policy to engage in that type of language…he has promised to investigate the matter more thoroughly and when it is completed the findings will be made public,” he said.
The President, however, said he believes that what Ms Garrett said is not something that represented her personal philosophy or that of the government.
