CONVICTED prisoner Vijay Sanchara, 31, of Moriah’s Pleasure, East Bank Essequibo, who escaped from the Mazaruni Prison farm Wednesday after the arrival of the prison ferry was recaptured on Thursday.
Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels, said the prisoner who was sentenced to seven years for wounding with intent was recaptured at Goat Creek, Mazaruni at about 17:15hrs.
The prisoner was missing when a roll call was conducted after a visit to the Mazaruni Farm.
Sanchara was housed at Camp Street Prison but after the fire on June 9 he was transferred to Lusignan Prison and later taken to Mazaruni Prison to serve his sentence.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are still trying to recapture three wanted fugitives who escaped from Camp Street and Lusignan Prisons.
Still on the run are Bartica massacre convict, Mark Royden Williams called “Smallie”; Cobena Stephens, called “OJ”; and Paul Goriah.
