Action returns to the GFC ground this evening with a triple-header in the Corona Invitational Football.

A TRIPLE-HEADER will headline this evening’s action in the Corona Invitational Football tournament which takes place at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.

In the first game, Camptown FC will take on Black Pearl FC from 17:00hrs while Northern Rangers clash with Flamingo followed by Pele and Riddim Squad in the final game.
In the latest round of action East Veldt staved off the challenges of Flamingo.
The East Veldt side opened the scoring in the 4th minute thanks to Michael Charles with Flamingo’s Earl Samuels responding in the 27th to level the game.
This stalemate stretched into halftime and threatened to be the end-result before Travis Hercules broke the deadlock for the eventual winners.
After that Cordel Johnson scored just one minute later for the East Veldt side.
In the second game of the evening, Camptown FC and Beacons played to a 1-1 stalemate.
Jamal Codrington was on target for the Campbellville-based side with Travis Lyken on target for the Beacons unit.
The third game also ended in a stalemate but only barely, as the GFC side held a one-goal advantage over the Western Tigers up until the final minute.
Benjamin Abumchi was the man who had set the GFC crowd alight in the 16th minute and that goal led them into the second half.
Whether it was tiredness or being too laid back that cost the side, they allowed Dwayne McLennon through in the 90+3 and he completed Western Tigers’ much-needed goal to continue their streak.
