HAVING defeated Guyana 5-1 in their opening game on Wednesday, Barbados will face axiomatic Cuba today to wrap-up their Group D matches in the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Caribbean qualifiers, at the Leonora Track and Field Facility. Kick-off time is 17:00hrs.
Cuba head into the match as favourites, given their proven track record in women’s football, primarily at the youth level in the Caribbean.
However, Barbados’ Thomas Jordan said his team is ready for the challenge against the Spanish-speaking Island, and given the fact that they have already secured a crucial three points, the pressure will be on the Cubans to finish the night with at least a point.
Only one team from the group will advance to the final round which will be played in Haiti.
